What is a “Virtual Edition”?
If you’re looking for a meaningful, authentic, hilarious option for your Purim celebration, we offer our Virtual Editions: spiels adapted to work smoothly and effectively on online meeting platforms like Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
We have adapted four of our Purim spiels specifically for use on Zoom.
How does it work?
Our spiels have been musically adapted in a few ways:
All songs are solos. Because delay is always a barrier when multiple people are trying to sing together from different locations, all songs have been edited to work as solos. Karaoke tracks now include all necessary background vocals.
Cast members have to play the karaoke tracks for their own songs. Actors can play the karaoke tracks on an external speaker. All karaoke tracks come with background vocals pre-recorded (The Totally Rad ‘80s Spiel: Virtual Edition and Mamma Mia Megillah: Virtual Edition only).
Script adaptations for online use. The scripts have been edited so that every joke can work online — limited use of sight gags, characters never interrupt each other, and stage directions account for the lack of a stage. Scripts are also shorter to account for the challenge of sitting on Zoom for long periods of time.
Unique virtual backgrounds. All of our virtual editions come bundled with Purim-specific virtual backgrounds for use by cast members and attendees.
Tips and suggestions included. Every virtual edition comes with a PDF full of tips for creating an optimal online spiel experience.
